Whispers of Stone – Oral Traditions from the Atlas Mountains

Archival Insight:

Among the red peaks of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, storytellers still gather at dusk to pass on ancient myths. Whispers of Stone captures these oral traditions before they vanish into silence.
Recorded by ethnographer Lina Ben Saïd in 2022, this collection includes 25 narratives, each paired with a portrait photograph of the storyteller. Accompanying ambient soundscapes of wind, fire, and footsteps add sensory depth to the archive.
These recordings remind us that storytelling is not static — it breathes, moves, and transforms with each retelling. The project connects ancient myth with living memory, keeping language and identity alive.
